Duck quilt #1

Duck quilt #1 and #2 will be done by the end of the week. Here's duck quilt #1. I'm sorry that it has taken so long and I'll try in the future to ensure we get things done much quicker. Thanks again to everyone who participates, we couldn't do it without you.

The Crazy/Recycle Quilt is DONE!

Finally the Crazy/Recycle Quilt is done!
Here is a little snapshot of the finished product. I've also written a bit of a description of everything I received and the process I went through to get this completed.

This quilt was actually pretty difficult to put together. I received A LOT of very different fabrics from everyone. See them in the pictures below.

It took me a long time of staring at the piles of fabric from everyone to figure out what to do. I got some squares from a few ladies but mostly I got piles of fabric. I was stuck. Finally I decided to cut up some of the ladies' squares and then the other fabric to make into big rectangular squares like the picture below. (Sorry I cut up your squares ladies.)

Then I pieced it together with some white and white polka dots to try to even out all the varying colors in the bigger blocks.

Once the quilt top was done I sandwiched the batting and the backing that was sent in and started the "quilting" process. Because of all the crazy blocks I made, I went with just plain, straight lines across the quilt top to keep it pretty simple. (And to save me a long step! ;-) )

Once the quilting was done I had to trip the edges and threads, and then add the binding. I just used some plain white flannel for the binding so that it didn't clash with the flannel backing. The backing was white and orange dots. The binding is machine stitched on the quilt top side and then hand stitched on the back to finish it up. This is the first time I've hand stitched a quilt backing on. It is not the best hand stitching, but its not too bad. ;-)

Ducky 2

Here are some in progress pics of Ducky 2. Ducky 1 is in the works too but I'm not quite ready to show that one off yet. This looks pretty modern when you see the whole thing and will be a mod ducky strip quilt. I think it's turning out pretty neat so far.

Green Quilt Done!

It took me a bit longer than planned to get this green done for MrsBro, but I will blame that on the holidays. :-) This is my first attempt at "quilting" of any kind. I did a simple machine quilting on top (just the squiggly lines straight across - nothing fancy) and machine stitched the binding on. I am not exactly proud of the binding, but it looks pretty good for my first try. The next one I assemble will be better.

So thanks to everyone for their help with squares and fabric! MrsBro I used your square and Moo's extra fabric to make 2 squares, Bee I used the plain squares you sent to make 2 more sqaures like yours, and Jessie I used your fabrics on the back with some of Moo's and some I had at home already. I made the binding from a remnant at Joann's, I bought the light green sashing on the front and back, and the white I had already too.

Yellow Quilt

As promised I have been a busy little bee and have completed the top of the yellow quilt. For anyone who keeps up with our happening this will be our second quilt. I have to say this one is going to bee the best. Hope you all like it.

The red quilt is done. I hope by Sunday we will be able to say the same for the Yellow quilt as well.

Red Quilt

Almost there girls. I just have to hand sew the binding to the back and we'll have one down. Bee will finally be able to get her quilt. After this next weekend we should have 2 done. The yellow squares that came in are awesome and we're doing great.

The quilt top is complete and quilting and binding will begin ASAP. We're a bit behind schedule but not much. Wow we sure did a good job though. Everyone give themselves a pat on the back.

This is the first quilt, the red quilt pre-assembled. All the girls who sent in squares did a great job. Pictures of the finished product will be posted here to show what great things we can do when we work together.
